DESCRIPTION:This lesson is designed for those 13 and over. Whether you’re a beginner finding your balance or a skater looking to improve your skills\, our Sunday Adult Skating Lesson is the perfect place to level up. Held before the Sunday Afternoon Family Skate\, this half-long lesson provides guidance\, tips\, and encouragement in a relaxed\, supportive environment. Your instructor will be Scarlett Aamodt\, a certified personal trainer\, skate instructor\, and hockey coach. Protective gear (helmet\, knee\, elbow\, and wrist) required and available for sale. The lesson includes admission to the family skate from 1pm-4pm that follows. \nOn the day of the event\, street parking is available on Fairground Road. Enter the Fairgrounds using Gate 5 and look for the Monterey Skates signs\, which will direct you to the King City building. Doors open 10 minutes before a session.

This 18+ session is for adults who want to roll\, vibe\, and unwind to a hand-picked soundtrack of funk\, disco\, house\, and throwback favorites. The lights are low\, the energy is high\, and the floor is yours—whether you’re skating solo\, linking up with friends\, or showing off your signature style. This event is co-hosted with Encounters of the Funky Kind: \nEncounters of the Funky Kind is an analog DJ collective. Members Kenji Rei\, Oh-So Ritmico\, and Funky Jarocho are on a galactic quest to bring you funky tunes. Kenji Rei is a DJ\, producer\, and songwriter from Marina\, CA. He is a resident DJ on Sweet Vibrations Radio (UK) with a monthly Neo Soul/Hip-Hop show. Oh-So Ritmico is a Monterey-based vinyl DJ with a groovy collection of music from around the world.
